| Personally, Ill probably get a Panasonic Toughbook for its
ruggedness but second choice would be a Toshiba for other resons. I
have not looked at the Acer line in laptops yet. |
| Aha! I said. Why is Toshiba is willing to blow off that
one-third of the market that prefers touchpads? The ideal
product mix would contain some models with the eraser-like
pointer, and some models with touchpads. That way, Toshiba
would sell more laptops. |
|
This situation puzzled me so much that I called their
U.S. laptop marketing office in Irvine, California, to
inquire. The man whom I spoke to told me that one-third
of all U.S. laptop users prefers the eraser-like pointing device
(found on U.S. Toshiba laptops), one-third prefers touchpads,
and one-third doesnt care. |

No! Many laptops do NOT come with this port. It would even be safe to say
that MOST laptops do not have a game port. For joysticks, etc., laptops
make do with parallel, serial, USB and IEEE 1394 ports. |
| Additionally, you would need some form of input devices, and here is
where it would be nice to know where you can buy working keyboards
w/trackpads from otherwise defective laptops. |
