Can anyone help me please, things look remarkably stupid as far as prices between companies producing laptops vary so much. I have noticed in the past month of my price searching of laptops, that a laptop can be more expensive than one of the same or less quility, is it the Brand Name or what. Please shed light on this issue anyone if you can. Thanx.
Dennis Herrick wrote in message news:gwH66.617$X3.213@e420r-atl1.usenetserver.com... When one buys a desktop they all come with game ports, so I dont think to ask. Is this true with laptops? Can it be assumed that they come with joystick port? I need to connect some MIDI and need that. Im looking at older used ones. Any help appreciated.
Personally, Ill probably get a Panasonic Toughbook for its ruggedness but second choice would be a Toshiba for other resons. I have not looked at the Acer line in laptops yet.
Aha! I said. Why is Toshiba is willing to blow off that one-third of the market that prefers touchpads? The ideal product mix would contain some models with the eraser-like pointer, and some models with touchpads. That way, Toshiba would sell more laptops.
This situation puzzled me so much that I called their U.S. laptop marketing office in Irvine, California, to inquire. The man whom I spoke to told me that one-third of all U.S. laptop users prefers the eraser-like pointing device (found on U.S. Toshiba laptops), one-third prefers touchpads, and one-third doesnt care.
